I am a graduate with a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Petroleum Engineering and a strong research background, this position excites me because it would expose me to an environment that would provide me with an invaluable experience and the prospect of being able to meet and work with different people through a shared experience.

Recently, I worked with British Council as a Research Assistant where I travelled to villages to conduct interviews with parents/carers and their children who listens to the KaLMA English by radio programmes where I gathered insights on the effectiveness of the home-based learning initiative of the KaLMA programme due to the Coronavirus pandemic and I was able to identify possible case studies from the interviewees. And in the event of the exercise, all protection measures against the Coronavirus were ensured. I also worked for the British Council as a Training Assistant in the KaLMA and TaRL programmes where I attended a one day training and during the program I assisted on logistics and the training of the participants. Initially I was trained as an enumerator and I carried out the enumeration exercise in some selected primary schools.

As a training assistant, I worked closely with the Cluster coordinators and some mentors. I assisted on logistics and training of the participants efficiently.

In addition to the university’s program, I was also an intern at Geoprojects Limited- a Geological Consultancy Company. As an intern in the Geoprojects Limited I was also responsible for field surveys in different community settings. This position, while clearly strengthening my professional skills, has also strengthened my leadership and communication skills.

I also have had more specific experience in the daily operations of the Oil and Gas sector, dating back to when I was an intern with Kaduna Refining and Petrochemical Company Limited, a subsidiary of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) where I was stationed at the production department- fuels section and I was engaged in petroleum refining operations, maintenance jobs and general house keeping.

These experiences, coupled with Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University’s rigorous academic environment have prepared me to function at a high level in a fast-paced environment. I have successfully balanced a difficult course load in the Honors Program with the demands of several extracurricular activities.
